The Ragdoll’s character<\/h2>\n

The Ragdoll is a breed known for its sociability and calm nature: it seeks the company of people, follows whoever moves around the house and tolerates handling well. It is not, however, a passive cat – it is a curious animal that loves to stay close to the family and take part in domestic life. Its relationship with people is built in the first months of life, through socialisation and the constant presence of its mother and littermates.<\/p>\n

What it needs<\/h2>\n

You do not need a big house: you need high spots, hiding places and quiet spaces to rest. The semi-long coat, without a thick undercoat, needs regular but undemanding brushing. Food should be chosen with care and kept consistent, especially in the early days: sudden changes of diet are among the most common causes of digestive upsets. It is a breed that suffers from prolonged solitude more than others: anyone who spends many hours away from home should consider the company of a second cat.<\/p>\n

Before bringing one home<\/h2>\n

Welcoming a Ragdoll is a commitment that can last fifteen years. Before it arrives it is worth learning about the breed’s character, the genetic tests carried out on the breeding cats (in particular HCM and PKD), the vaccinations already given and what the sale contract provides. A kitten leaves the cattery no earlier than twelve weeks: this is the minimum time it needs to complete weaning, socialisation and the basic vaccination course. Safety at home deserves attention from day one – balconies and windows must be secured, because the trust that makes these cats so affectionate also makes them less cautious in front of a drop.<\/p>\n
